Day 2- Zilzal
Mount Vesuvius is best known for its eruption that led to the burying and destruction of the Roman cities of Pompeii, Herculaneum and several other settlements. That eruption ejected a cloud of stones, ash and fumes to a height of 33 km , spewing molten rock and pulverized pumice at the rate of 1.5 million tons per second, ultimately releasing a hundred thousand times the thermal energy released by the Hiroshima bombing. An estimated 16,000 people died due to hydrothermal pyroclastic flows. The only surviving eyewitness account of the event consists of two letters by Pliny the Younger to the historian Tacitus. Vesuvius has erupted many times since and is the only volcano on the European mainland to have erupted within the last hundred years. Today, it is regarded as one of the most dangerous volcanoes in the world.
Lunch during the excursion. Return to hotel. Dinner and overnight.

Day 3-Roomi
This is one of the most spectacular hikes in the Amalfi Coast. You will walk around 500 meters above the sea level, among the Mediterranean shrubs and old terraces built on the steep slopes, facing the coast from Positano to Capri.

Day 4- And the Earth throws up its burdens
Today it is time for you to get acquainted with Mediterranean flora. The native vegetation of Italy reflects the diversity of the physical environment: the differences in geology, the differences of altitude above sea level and the diversity of the climate between the continental and the peninsular Italy, that give rise to various species of plants. Botanist and geologist are at your disposal, and have prepared a quiz for you. Dinner and overnight in hotel.

Day 5-The Past, our teacher
Worldwide Amalfi is known for its glorious past and its sea, but few know the nature reserve "Valle delle Ferriere”. Due to its special geographical position, among the mountains of Scala, the reserve is protected from cold north winds through the rocky ridges, but open to hot-humid southern winds and subject to high rainfall distributed over three months. It thus kept unchanged over time its microclimate keeping intact plants of past times. Return to hotel. Dinner and overnight.

Day 6-Vespa ride
Have fun riding a Vespa along the scenic Amalfi coastal road and admire its beauty by an alternative and unique perspective! Your tour escort on his own Vespa will lead the small group along the most fascinating panoramic sceneries in the world. We will depart from Sorrento towards the enchanting village of Positano. Free time to explore its narrow streets as you walk your way down towards the seafront.
